Although arquiteg was officially founded by architect Victor M. Villegas in 1991, it is an outgrowth of an architecture practice that has been active in Puerto Rico since 1976--originally as Angel M. Caban Architects and Later as Archicorps. Through its history, the firm has demonstrated its commitment to a higher design standard in projects ranging from cutting edge office environments to historical landmark restorations. Major clients include multinational US and European companies, Puerto Rican government agencies such as the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture and the State Department, as well as local small businesses and private individuals.
arquiteg provides a full range of architectural and interior design services. These include programming, cost estimates, materials research, and construction management, among other services. Our architects and consultants are assigned to project teams that work with our clients from the conceptual through the construction phases of a project--a continuity of services resulting in successful projects that meets program, budget, and exceeds client's expectations.
The firm's principal, Victor M. Villegas, has forty years of experience in institutional, commercial, and residential projects, totaling over 3.5 million square feet. He has participated in over 150 historical restoration projects in Puerto Rico, contributing to the preservation of the historical national heritage.
Over the years arquiteg has worked in partnership with firms in Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, and the United States in order to competitively pursue and develop local and international projects. These strategic alliances have allowed the firm to reach clients in new geographical areas and to increase its expertise in diverse project types.

At arquiteg, we believe successful projects result from a focused, coordinated collaboration between clients and all members of the project team. We see ourselves as facilitators, and we have a personal commitment to satisfy our clients' unique visions and needs.
Our approach to project development is twofold. "Workshop" sessions kick start the design process, fostering the kind of experimentation and evaluation needed to understand the program at hand. In these meetings our designers and clients jointly explore the project's challenges and opportunities in order to create the conceptual framework required for a successful design.
Secondly, we implement a system of project management and delivery that ensures clear communication channels between end-users, clients, consultants, and our project team. The core of this system are regular meetings between all involved parties, with separate meetings for owners, architects, and project managers to reach strategic decisions about scope, budget, and schedule.
We assign our staff members to project teams for the duration of the project, providing for the continuity of knowledge and experience our clients expect throughout the process.
