The Municipality of Río Grande had the necessity of creating areas with recreational and sports facilities, for which they looked to rehabilitate the existing facilities of the Malpica Park. The Project with an area of 120,000 s.f. approx. consisted in the reconstruction of the baseball park, a new building with bleachers, dugouts, bathrooms and cantina area for the benefit of the spectators. It also includes parking for visitors, gazebos with benches as resting areas for visitors and destination for small recreational activities, a running track, and children’s playground equipment. The landscape design played an important role in the Project; the existing vegetation was preserved and the newly added were selected from local species surrounding the area. The Project was designed with an emphasis of using eco-friendly materials and construction techniques in order to minimize any environmental impact to the area.
